The 2018 Nigeria–USA Leadership Summit is designed for accomplished Nigerian and  African leaders in Business, Career, Academia and Government.

About The Summit

In the summer of 2018, Drake University will host the prestigious Nigeria – USA Leadership Summit for accomplished Nigerian leaders in business, career, academia and government. At least twenty-five accomplished leaders will spend six days learning from Drake faculty and engaging in the Greater Des Moines community October 8 – 13, 2018.

The summit will host leaders who are accomplished professionals and moguls not just in Nigeria but in the whole continent of Africa. This summit will empower the African leaders through academic coursework, leadership training, networking, professional and business opportunities, and support for activities in their communities.

The leaders would be opportune to meet with American business owners for learning experience and/or business partnerships. The summit will focus on government relations and policies, education management, business and entrepreneurship. It will cater for African leaders who are running very large businesses or organizations or government departments

Matthew C. Mitchell

Matthew is an author, consultant, and assistant professor of international business and strategy at Drake. He also serves as the executive editor of the journal International Business: Research, Teaching, and Practice and is the chair of the largest national chapter of the Academy of International Business.

Debra S. Bishop, Ph.D.

Dr. Debra Bishop received a doctorate in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering with a concentration in operations research from Iowa State University in 1996. She has been at Drake University since 1996 and holds the position of Director of the Buchanan Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership as well as the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship Outreach.

Jimmy Senteza, Ph.D., CFA

Jimmy D. Senteza currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Economics and Finance in the CBPA.  He earned a B.A. (Hons) from Makerere University (Kampala, Uganda); B.B.A. (summa cum laude), M.B.A., and Ph.D. in Business (Finance) from Washington State University; and has been at Drake since 2000.
